Best Self Groups, L.L.C. are skill-based social emotional learning (SEL) groups for children, ages 4-11. Group participants will learn the tools and strategies to help them be their “best self.” Groups run for 45 minutes for 5 weeks long. Summer groups are 4 days in a row. All groups are run by Lydia Connell, M.A., Ed.S., NCSP, a Nationally Certified and Licensed School Psychologist. Group offerings are listed below:

Calm Kids

Calm Kids is a group for kids who want to learn more about calm down tools to manage “big feelings.” Students will be introduced to a variety of calming tools and create their own calm-down corner for their house

Confident Kids

Confident Kids is a group to help kids boost their self-esteem and confidence and better tolerate mistakes. Each group includes a picture book, craft, and parent handout.

Feelings and Fun 

Feelings and fun is a group to help build emotional vocabulary. Kids will also start to learn about basic coping tools. Through games, arts and crafts, and songs, children will learn that it can be fun to talk about your feelings!

Flexible Friends

Flexible friends is a group for kids who want to learn how to be more flexible. Students will be introduced to a variety of strategies around problem solving, coping with mistakes, and getting “unstuck.

Social Butterflies

Social Butterflies is a social skills group to help practice or strengthen friendship skills. Each group will include a book, craft, parent handout, and opportunity for your child to practice their social skills with other children.

Summer Social Skills 

Summer Social Skills is a summer themed social group to practice conflict resolution, problem solving, and friendship building skills.

Worry Warriors

Worry Warriors helps kids learn to recognize and manage worried feelings. This group is for any child who struggles with worry or anxiety. Participants will learn different tools and strategies when “worry talks to the brain.”
